Ways of Rising Up

  These pieces were inspired by a series of photographs of amazing cloud formations taken on an day high in the Italian Dolomites.  In translating the photos into sepia paintings, I wanted to create meditations on the constant movement between earth and sky.  Birds explode from the ground into openness overhead, the moisture  of clouds cycles up and down, trees reach into earth and heavens; all things transform - light into matter into light.
